Residence Phase Concludes for Advanced Courses

On March 28, the residence phase of Perry Center advanced courses concluded with a closing ceremony and reception. The ceremony featured remarks by Mr. Ken LaPlante, Perry Center Acting Director, and Dr. John Melvin Jones, a longtime Foreign Service officer and former U.S. Ambassador to Guyana.

The four advanced courses are: Civil-Political-Military Relations and Democratic Leadership (CPMR), directed by Dr. Luis Bitencourt and Prof. Guillermo Pacheco; Governance, Governability, and Security in the Americas: Response to Transnational Organized Crime (GGSA), directed by Dr. Michael Gold-Biss and Prof. Boris Saavedra; Strategy and International Security (SIS), directed by Dr. Scott Tollefson and Dr. Isidro SepĂșlveda; and Terrorism and Counterinsurgency (TCI), directed by Dr. David Spencer and Gen. (ret.) Carlos Ospina. The 56 students, representing 20 countries in the Western Hemisphere and Spain, graduated from the residence phase and will return home to complete their final papers in the coming weeks.
